Shopping mall giant SM Prime Holdings Inc. announced the expansion of SM City Rosales in Pangasinan province with the opening of its new annex.
The annex of SM City Rosales was opened on Friday, May 15, bringing the mall's gross floor area (GFA) to 60,989 square meters.
SM City Rosales, which was inaugurated in November last year, is located at Barangay Carmen in Rosales, Pangasinan.

Pangasinan shoppers have a second look at SM City Rosales as the mall’s second phase opens its doors to the public. Located on a 121,685 square meter property, the mall’s phase 1 includes the Event Center, Hypermarket, Ace Hardware, Appliance Center, and Watsons, while Phase 2 opens other SM Mainstays like SM Department Store, Foodcourt, and SM Cinemas and the mall’s Grand Atrium.
'Our immediate expansion of SM City Rosales lays claim to the municipality's strong local economy and enabling environment for business. Its continued progress in agricultural and transport services further contribute to a heightened level of consumer activity, prompting us to pursue the expansion without delay, a record of sorts for both SM Prime and the municipality of Rosales,' SM Prime President Hans Sy said in a statement.
The major tenant of the new annex is the SM Department Store, which occupies 16,686 square meters of floor space. Other mall tenants include food chains such as Greenwich, Chowking, Pancake House, and convenience store 7-Eleven, among others.
For the rest of 2009, SM Prime is scheduled to open SM City Rosario in Cavite, SM City Pamplona in Las Pinas, and the Sky Garden at SM City North Edsa.
By year-end, the company is expected to have 36 malls in the country, with an estimated total GFA of 4.9 million square meters.
